Human neck stiffness and range of motion - methods and repeatability resource materials: moment-angle data

dataset
posted on 2024-11-28, 06:28 authored by Mingyue LiuMingyue Liu, Ryan QuarringtonRyan Quarrington, Will RobertsonWill Robertson, Baptiste Sandoz, Claire JonesClaire Jones

This dataset contains moment-angle data collected from three male (Male1-3) and three female (Female1-3) participants during passive-lying tests.

Each tab in the spreadsheet represents the moment-angle data from a single trial, named using the format ‘[session number]_[motion][trial number]’, where:

  • Session number: S1 (Session 1), S2 (Session 2).
  • Motion:
    • F: Flexion
    • E: Extension
    • L: Left lateral bending
    • R: Right lateral bending
    • RL: Left axial rotation
    • RR: Right axial rotation
  • Trial number: 1–5, corresponding to trials 1 through 5.

In each spreadsheet, the first column (angle) represents the head-torso rotational angle in the tested direction, measured in degrees. The second column (moment) contains the applied moment on the participant’s neck, in units of Nm/degree.

The manuscript provides comprehensive details on the testing protocol, data collection procedures, and post-processing methods. Participant anthropometric data are included in the ParticipantInformation.xlsx file. Participant identifications are color-coded consistently with the published manuscript:
