Data of 20 traits measured on a collection of 118 barley germplasms in field trials conducted over the three years 2020-2022. The trials were conducted in a range of environments, with different rainfall across four states (SA, VIC, NSW, WA).

The dataset comprises: (1) Trial information for all sites across 3 years, including experimental design and trial management data; (2) Raw phenotypic data; (3) Markers and genotypic data for the set of tested germplasms. 20 traits were measured, including:

Early establishment (in counts, the average of the number of emerged plants recorded on 50 cm distance of two rows for three times per plot)

Early establishment per m2

Days to booting (days from sowing to awn peep 1cm, in days),

Plant height (distance from the ground to the tip of the awn, in cm),

Fertile and total tiller number from harvest cut and per m2 (TIN, in counts),

Grain number per ear (GPE, which was the average grain number per ear of 15 ears randomly selected from each plot, excluding flat and undeveloped grains, in counts),

Number of abnormal grain/ear

Thousand-grain weight (TGW, weight of thousand grains, in g),

Test weight (weight of the seeds in a hundred litre, in kg/hL),

Harvest index (HI, percentage of weight of plot grain weight from the harvest cut to the total above-ground dry mass, in %),

Dry biomass

Screening (percent of grain that was small enough to pass through the 2.2 mm sieve),

Lodging (1-9 scale, with 1 is plant standing straight and 9 is the plant lying on the ground, in number),

Final grain yield (Grain weight from a plot per plot size and kg/m2 and then convert to t/ha)

Additionally, disease incidence for net form (NFNB), spot form of net blotch (SFNB), and barley leaf rust (BLR) were also recorded if present. The scale for rating diseases is 1-9 with 1 is no symptoms of diseases and 9 is heavily infested with diseases.
