Institutional Underpinnings: Exploring Data Stewardship at the University of Adelaide
The University of Adelaide was one of 25 Australian universities that participated in the Australian Research Data Commons led Institutional Underpinnings network between 2021 and 2024.
That network collaboratively delivered the Research Data Management Framework for Institutions, a guide to best practice for organisations delivering research data management support. The 19 elements of the framework were tested through local projects with shared outputs to contribute to community-wide uplift.
With input from representative researchers, the University of Adelaide developed a Data Steward Competency Framework aimed at helping researchers understand their responsibilities as data stewards, under the University's Research Data and Primary Materials Policy, as well as directing researchers to relevant tools, resources and support.
This collection includes reports from that project, the Framework, and a training resource. The project also delivered an institution-specific training course titled Understanding Your Role as a Data Steward, published in the University's learning management system.
