QUALITY CONTROL FOR SAMPLE COLLECTION, PROCESSING, AND BIOBANKING IN THE MULTI-CENTER ENVIRONMENT DETERMINANTS OF ISLET AUTOIMMUNITY (ENDIA) STUDY

Published on by Dao Huynh

ENDIA is a multi-centre study that collects a variety of biospecimens longitudinally from pregnant women and their infants to investigate the aetiology of type 1 diabetes. The Quality Control (QC) Working Group identified and evaluated four high-risk “P” activities in the biospecimen collection and processing pipeline where sample or data quality could be adversely impacted if uncontrolled.

  •  High-risk activity 1: Processing-Sample processing times
  •  High-risk activity 2: Passage-Shipping and temperature monitoring
  •  High-risk activity 3: Proficiency testing
  • High-risk activity 4: Primary Outcome-Islet autoantibody testing
